I wasn't sure what to do this week. I had a lot of ideas, but they were hard to come up with full blog posts for. This to me is a song of hope and since I'm ending a month of talking about suffering, I thought it best to end on hope.
Whenever I get down about something or am thinking about something that happened with regret, I think about this song. It's an upbeat song that starts off by reminding us that we're not alone. One of my favorite lines is in the first verse, "Let the world keep spinning 'round/ For yesterday's gone and today is waiting on you to show your face." The world will keep spinning. Time keeps moving forward. We have to move with it and keep our heads up and know that even if today is dark, the future will hold brighter times. If you're worried about anything be it stress for an exam or serious issues, remember this:

Week #5 New Day by Robbie Seay
New Day
by Robbie Seay
I'm gonna sing this song
To let you know that you're not alone
And if you're like me
You need hope, coffee, and melody
So sit back down
Let the world keep spinning ‘round
For yesterday's gone and today is waiting on you to show your face
It might not be
The prettiest thing that you'll ever see
But it’s a new day, oh baby, it’s a new day
And it might not look like
A beautiful sunrise
But it's a new day, oh baby, it’s a new day

Next Month's Topic
Next month the topic will be changing from struggles to songs about volunteering and helping others. I'll do one more song on struggles this week and then do the new topic starting March 1.

Song #4 What I've Overcome by Fireflight
While looking for a song this week, I came across "What I've Overcome" by Fireflight and immediately knew this was the one I wanted to do.
Here's a challenge: Close your eyes and think about who you were at your worst. That may be years ago, it could have been only a month or a week or even just yesterday. Think about the type of person you were, the things you did, the people you hung out with.

I've got this passion
It's something I can't describe
It's so electric
It's like I've just come alive
I feel this freedom
Now that my past is erased
I feel the healing
I've found the meaning of grace
(I've found grace)
If only You come see me yesterday
Who I used to be before I change
You'd see a broken heart
You'd see the battle scars
It's something I can't describe
It's so electric
It's like I've just come alive
I feel this freedom
Now that my past is erased

Song #3 This is Home by Switchfoot
The next two weeks are hectic for me, so I thought I'd pick a song that I can use to remind myself to relax. Some of you might be thinking then why "This is Home" by Switchfoot? Well the title and the bridge pretty much.
Philippians 3:20-21 (NIV)
But our citizenship is in heaven. And we eagerly await a Savior from there, the Lord Jesus Christ, who, by the power that enables him to bring everything under his control, will transform our lowly bodies so that they will be like his glorious body.

Week #3 This is Home by Switchfoot
This Is Home

I've got my memories
Always inside of me
But I can't go back
Back to how it was
I believe you now
I've come too far
No I can't go back
Back to how it was
Created for a place I've never known
[Chorus]
This is home
Now I'm finally where I belong
Where I Belong
Yeah, this is home
I've been searching for a place of my own
Now I've found it
Maybe this is home
This is home

Song #2 Not Alone By Red
So this week saw the release of Red's newest album, Until We Have Faces. I wanted to wait and pick a song from this album to honor its release. I chose Not Alone, the sixth track on the album.
From people I've talked to since the album came out Tuesday, I have heard mixed reviews on this song. Some people absolutely love it, and others don't like it at all. I'm in the first camp.
At some point in our lives, we all feel alone, like no one else is there and perhaps even God isn't there with us.
